NL TSO Tennet has released a 10-year grid fee projection with grid fees for consumers rising ~4.5% p.a., a ~58% increase relative to 2024 levels.
High grid fees have weighed on project costs, holding back BESS investment to date, however upcoming reforms to a time-based dispatch approach (see our NL grid fee blog for more detail) are projected to reduce headline BESS grid fees by ~60%.
Growing underlying costs at Tennet, however, highlight the requirement for further reform as NL grid fees remain significantly higher for BESS than in neighbouring markets.
