Low wind & outages see UK electricity prices surge

Average max UK wind generation through September has been 60% lower than the same time last year, contributing to UK wholesale electricity prices printing in the thousands of pounds per MWh for multiple delivery periods across September. Starting from a high commodity price environment (NBP over 170 p/th), low wind across the UK and Ireland coupled with several outages including a fire yesterday knocking IFA fully offline have seen intraday and day ahead prices soar.
