Across Jan-Sep 2021 Turkish LNG imports had dropped by 36% from 2020 levels, due to roll off of long term contracts and a year on year increase in pipeline supplies from Gazprom of 38%. In October however LNG imports into Turkey rebounded, more than doubling compared to year before levels to 1.1 mt. The increase comes as Turkey struggles to meet soaring demand, with the government raising the tariff to gas sold by BOTAS to gas plants by 47% (though still significantly below European gas hub levels).
