Since its introduction in Q4-20, DC-LF has been clearing consistently at an unofficial 17 £/MW/hr cap. There are a few factors set to challenge this going forward however;
- The fast rollout of batteries onto the grid, reducing the structural shortage of capacity, with volumes participating in DC now above 900 MW
- The move to procurement by EFA block (currently daily), which is set to reduce the average amount procured
- The move to pay-as-clear, incentivising battery operators to bid to marginal cost of service provision.
